  1. Digital Literacy Trainings: SAFU-Uganda bridges the digital divide by training youth, women, and farmers in basic computer and smartphone skills. This includes typing, internet browsing, mobile money management, and using productivity apps. We emphasize digital security training, teaching participants how to create strong passwords, manage privacy settings, and secure their devices - critical given our baseline finding that 88% use Android phones with low security confidence.
  2. Software Development: To create sustainable ICT jobs, we train talented youth and women in practical tech skills including website development for local businesses, mobile application development for agricultural markets, and basic computer programming. Graduates are supported to develop solutions for community problems, such as farm produce marketing apps, and to earn income through freelancing.
  3. Digital Communication: We empower community groups to use emails, WhatsApp, Facebook, and other online platforms for learning, networking, and business. Youth learn to market their agricultural products, crafts, and tourism services online, expanding their customer base beyond Kigezi. This transforms social media from a social tool into a business productivity and advocacy tool.
  4. Cyber Security Awareness: In response to high exposure to hacking and malware - 82.4% reported threats - SAFU-Uganda educates communities on online fraud, phishing, Mobile Money scams, hacking, data protection, and safe internet use. We teach practical safety measures like two-factor authentication, identifying fake links, and secure communication to protect human rights defenders and business owners.
