Since its establishment in 2017, save the future Uganda (SAFU-Uganda) has significantly made a number of achievements through its programs. Among the main achievements are;

  1. Human rights awareness programs; SAFU-Uganda has offered training to volunteers in Human Rights Education, Monitoring, and Advocacy. So far, about 504 volunteers have been trained in human rights Education, monitoring and advocacy programs in kigezi sub region. This was done through organizing workshops where each district of the sub region was represented by 84 volunteers. The volunteers were trained by Save the future Uganda in partnership with other stake holders including the district technical staff in the office of community based services. There has been further awareness and sensitization campaigns targeting the local communities in some of the sub counties and town councils of Kabale District on human rights issues.
  2. Formation of developmental community groups; SAFU-Uganda has sensitized and supported the unemployed youth and women to form groups and have been registered on the sub county level as Community groups. Organised and registered groups have been supported to access sensitizations and training basing on the different enterprises they are engaged in. These community groups have been supported to acquire trainings in financial management, for Village Saving Associations, open bank accounts among others.
  3. Environmental conservation; SAFU-Uganda engaged the local farmers to use modernized agricultural techniques that aim at conserving the environment through field agricultural sensitizations and training by our agricultural extension programs. These include supporting people with agricultural tools like hoes, forked hoes, pangas, slathers which are also used in the making of terraces, trenches, check dams and use of agro forestry systems. The local people have also been supported to establish nursery beds through which various tree species are produced. This practice is the one that supports a forestation and re-a forestation programs all over our operational areas. SAFU-Uganda has also initiated a recycling process where items that would be a danger to our environment are recycled and transformed in other essential materials for example the briquettes project. These aims at transforming the garbage collected into briquettes that can be used by people replacing our usual charcoal derived from burning the trees there by controlling deforestation.
  4. Renewable Energy and Climate Change; SAFU-Uganda organized trainings that encouraged the use of renewable energy and climate change patterns and other energy saving sources such as solar energy and use of improved cooking stoves. This was done through sensitizing the community members via different communication channels like radios and other social media platforms.
  5. Community health programs; SAFU-Uganda has supported the improvement of the health and sanitation of community members through Primary Health Care (PHC), trainings of Village Health Teams (VHTs), mobilizing communities to ensure that the youths, elderly and young mothers obtain the necessary knowledge and resources to keep their families and groups healthy and nourished. Under this program Save the Future Uganda has further supported sensitization and awareness campaigns about improved family planning methods and HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns through ground out reaches and use of other communication channels such as radios and other social media platforms.
  6. Skills development programs; SAFU-Uganda has provided skill development support to registered community groups through training the group members in different enterprises like crafts making, making of improved charcoal stoves and other skills in agricultural modernization such as value addition in agriculture products.Further skills on how the youth can use the technology on job creation have been accorded to the youths. The youths have been taught on how to use social media platforms such whatsApp and face book in marketing for their agricultural products.
